Tata Motors to Launch Punch EV in India on January 17, 2024



Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Punch EV in India on January 17, 2024. The bookings for this electric SUV started earlier this month, requiring a token amount of Rs. 21,000. The company has already unveiled crucial details, including variants, color choices, and specifications of the Punch EV. This all-electric model will be available in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. Customers can opt for five dual-tone or four monotone exterior paint options, such as Seaweed Green, Daytona Grey, Fearless Red, Empowered Oxide, and Pristine White.

Tata Punch.EV: Launch Date Revealed

In terms of features, the Punch EV is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, illuminated Tata logo on the twin-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, sunroof, blind-spot monitor, and a 360-degree surround camera.

The powertrain of the Punch EV will offer two battery pack options – Medium Range and Long Range. While specific details are yet to be disclosed, the Medium Range is anticipated to provide a driving range exceeding 300 km. Notably, the Punch EV will enter the market competing against the Citroen eC3 in its segment.

Tata has opened bookings for the Punch EV with a token amount of Rs. 21,000, allowing interested customers to reserve their unit either through dealerships or online. The official video released by Tata gives a sneak peek of the SUV’s exterior, building excitement for its upcoming unveiling. Tata is committed to its electric vehicles, evident in the establishment of EV-specific retail chains and showrooms, including the country’s first electric vehicle showroom in the Delhi NCR region.

Tata Punch.EV: Launch Date Revealed

The design of the Punch EV closely resembles its ICE counterpart, with some differentiating features. The front grille is completely closed, featuring the Tata logo, which cleverly conceals the charging port of the EV. The LED bar at the front, a signature Tata design element, adds a welcoming feature. The headlamps, now LED units, are positioned on the bumper, and higher variants come with optional fog lamps with a cornering function.

The micro SUV maintains its side profile from the ICE version, showcasing 16-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Punch.ev badge is visible on the tailgate. Interior features of the Punch EV include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a new UI, a frunk, a 360-degree camera, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, multiple voice assistants, ventilated leatherette front seats, an inbuilt air purifier, an electric sunroof, multi-mode regen, a jeweled control knob for the LR version, a fully digital instrument cluster (top-end variant), a wireless phone charger, connected car features, and more.

The Punch EV will be available in two variants: Standard Range or Medium Range (MR) and a Long Range (LR) variant. The MR version is expected to offer a range of around 330 km, powered by a 25 kWh battery pack, while the LR version will feature a 35 kWh battery pack, delivering a range of approximately 460 km. Both variants support fast charging and will be offered with 3.3 kW wall box charger and 7.2 kW fast home charger options. Like the Harrier and Nexon, the Punch EV will be presented in 5 personas: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+.
