The Toyota Hyryder is offered with two powertrains: Mild Hybrid and Strong Hybrid. The mild hybrid powertrain of the compact SUV consists of the 1.5 liter K15C 4 cylinder petrol engine (102 Bp-137 Nm) that’s naturally aspirated. This engine is paired with the Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS) mild hybrid unit that assists the petrol engine during hard acceleration. The SHVS mild hybrid system also offers brake energy regeneration and an idle-stop system – two features that cut fuel consumption and tail pipe emissions.

The other powertrain on the Hyryder is a strong hybrid, which consists of a 1.5 liter naturally aspirated, 4 cylinder petrol engine (91 Bhp-122 Nm) running on the Atkinson’s cycle, and an electric motor that makes 78 Bhp-144 Nm. This combination has a combined output of 114 Bhp, and the strong hybrid variants of the Hyryder get a CVT automatic gearbox as standard fare.
