Upcoming 2024 Volkswagen India Taigun compact SUV spotted testing: Here’s what has changed

The German car manufacturer Volkswagen had launched its compact SUV, the Taigun, in the market in 2021. It is the first product from Volkswagen to be launched under the India 2.0 strategy. The Taigun has received an overwhelming response from customers and is performing well. Recently, the manufacturer also introduced the GT Plus Edge edition of the Taigun SUV in the market. Additionally, Volkswagen is working on a facelift for the Taigun, which has been spotted testing multiple times. Spy images of the upcoming Taigun facelift have already surfaced online, and we now have a new image of a test mule of the Taigun without any camouflage, clearly showcasing the changes in the upcoming facelift.

The first noticeable change in the Taigun facelift is its grille, which has been redesigned. It now bears a resemblance to the T-Roc, which was available for a short period in the Indian market. The new grille on the Taigun facelift is similar to that of other, more expensive models from the brand. Moreover, the front grille appears slightly bigger than the current one.

Another change in the 2024 Volkswagen Taigun is the revised front bumper design. In the pictures, it appears less cluttered compared to the current version. This could be because the test mule spotted is a lower variant that lacks fog lamps. The chrome strip, present on the current version’s bumper, is missing in the upcoming version. Instead, there is a silver-colored strip extending from the faux skid plate, outlining the lower airdam of the SUV.

Alongside the grille and bumper changes, the headlamp design has also been slightly tweaked in the 2024 Volkswagen Taigun. The position of the LED DRLs and turn indicators differs from the current version. From the side profile, the Taigun’s design remains the same; however, we can also see a brand-new design for the alloy wheels in the spy picture. Since the picture shows an international model, it is uncertain if these wheels will be available in our market. There is a high probability that Volkswagen will continue to offer the same dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels with the Taigun facelift.

In other online pictures, it is evident that the tail lamp design of the 2024 Taigun will remain the same. Only the bumper will undergo some changes. Similar to the front, the chrome garnish on the rear bumper will be replaced with a silver-colored strip. Apart from these updates, everything else remains the same in the upcoming SUV. It is also likely that the interior will receive some cosmetic changes.

Volkswagen is expected to launch the 2024 Taigun with the same engine options as the current model. It will feature a RDE-compliant 1.0-liter TSI and a 1.5-liter TSI engine. The 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine generates 115 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine produces 150 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG transmission. The manual transmission was recently introduced in the 1.5 TSI GT variant.
