Like the BYD e6 MPV and Atto 3 compact SUV, this new sedan will also be a fully electric vehicle and will boast the signature BYD “ocean aesthetics” design language. It is a sleek-looking, sporty four-door sedan with a drag coefficient of 0.219 Cd. And from the general shape and design of the headlamps, we can note that it resembles the Porsche Taycan a little bit. A coupe-like all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, four boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, a split headlamp design, and a full-width LED light bar at the back are just a few of the unique touches found on the Seal.

Precisely the BYD Seal EV measures in at 4800 mm in length, 1875 mm in width, and 1460 mm in height. It also gets a 2910 mm wheelbase. The Tesla Model 3, which has dimensions of 4,694/1849/1443 mm, is the Seal’s major competitor (2875-mm wheelbase). In comparison to the Tesla Model 3, the Seal is thus 06 mm longer, 26 mm broader, and 17 mm taller. The wheelbase of the Seal is 45 mm longer than that of the Model 3.

Moving on to interior of the BYD Seal EV there is a lot of inspiration from the “ocean”. For instance, the Seal’s air vents feature a wavy design and a subtle blue accent. The Seal’s steering wheel features a flat bottom and three spokes. Its form resembles the tail of a fish. The primary screen is 15.6 inches and incorporates a landscape-portrait rotation feature. The base Seal received ten speakers. However, the most expensive variants have 12 Dynaudio speakers. The least expensive Seal is likewise devoid of a 220 V outlet, ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, etc.

Regarding the drivetrain, the BYD Seal is offered in both a RWD and an AWD configuration in the international markets. The base model includes a single 150 kW electric motor mounted on the back axle (204 hp). Additionally, the more costly variant included a 230 kW motor (313 horses). In terms of the Seal’s top trim level, it boasts two electric motors with a combined 390 kW of power (530 hp). It takes about 3.8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. The maximum speed of the Seal is 180 km/h.

Depending on the battery, the Seal’s CLTC range is between 500 and 700 km.  The range of the Seal AWD is 650 km. According to BYD, the 4WD Seal uses 12.7 kWh of energy every 100 kilometres. And it takes just 15 minutes to charge the battery 300 km.

In terms of pricing internationally the BYD Seal sedan starts at $31,180 and goes all the way up to $42,630. If BYD decides to bring this EV sedan to the Indian subcontinent we will have to wait for the pricing and launch dates.
