Maya Mukti has an inspiring story from her rag-picking to representing India at the UN. Maya Mukti was a 13-year-old bride and was a rag picker in India. She became India’s representative at the UN when Cyrus Poonawalla, head of the Serum Institute of India contacted her. Poonawalla wanted to help her mission.

Cyrus Poonawalla offered to give her a car to help her travel to the villages around Nashik city. Maya Mukti is currently helping bring the villagers’ issues to the authorities’ attention. On Tuesday, Poonawalla handed over a brand-new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso to Maya.

The rag-picker-turned-video journalist is following these issues till they are resolved. It made her almost run out of money. Maya told Mid-Day that she was stunned to see how a stranger could merely offer help some stranger simply after reading a newspaper. Maya has recently learned to drive and got her license.

Maya used to travel in infrequent public buses or had to pay for taxis or rented cars to visit the villages. She says that the car will save her a lot of time, energy and money. She says that she will work much harder and will help more people with the car.

After one year of its launch, Maruti Suzuki officially announced that it sold more than 75,000 units of the S-Presso in the market. Since it is aimed at youngsters, the S-Presso comes with SUV DNA including a high-positioned bonnet that gives a commanding stance to the car. The S-Presso also comes with large headlamps and there is a pair of LED DRLs as well.

Just like all other Maruti Suzuki cars, the S-Presso also offers only a petrol engine. It comes with the 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 67 Bhp and a peak torque of 90 Nm. It comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and also offers AMT. According to the official figures, the S-Presso returns a maximum fuel efficiency of 21.7 km/l.

Maruti Suzuki recently introduced the all-new Celerio to the Indian market. The new car has become the most fuel-efficient petrol car in India. Next year, the manufacturer has a slew of cars lined up for the Indian market. The upcoming cars from Maruti Suzuki include the new Baleno facelift, all-new Vitara Brezza, all-new Alto, Baleno-based SUV, new S-Cross and more.
